Will there be other guests at the Escape Room during our engagement time? No! When you book our Engagement Package, the entire facility is reserved exclusively for you, your partner, and anyone you choose to invite. We will not run any other Escape Room games or host other groups during your reserved time, giving you plenty of privacy for such a special moment. Your private reservation includes two hours total—one hour for your Escape Room experience and proposal, followed by an additional hour to celebrate, take photos, enjoy the space, and spend time with any friends or family you’ve invited.
How much time do we have to celebrate our engagement afterward? Your Engagement Package includes one complimentary hour in our decorated lobby after the proposal. This gives you plenty of time to celebrate, take photos, enjoy your sparkling cider, and spend time with any friends or family who join you afterward. We’ve found that about an hour tends to be the perfect amount of time, especially since many couples make dinner or other plans afterward. However, if you’d like to keep the celebration going, you can add additional time for $50 per 30 minutes.
Can I do a promposal at Crack The Code? Absolutely! We love helping with promposals, homecoming asks, and other special surprises. Since a promposal is typically a little less involved than our full Engagement Package, we offer a reduced Promposal Package for $300. We’ll still help you plan the surprise and decorate the space with artificial rose petals, tea lights, artificial florals, light-up trees, and a “She Said Yes to Prom!” sign. The Promposal Package does not include the engagement-specific “Will You Marry Me?” décor, champagne flutes, or sparkling cider. Have something different in mind? How will I know when it’s time to propose? During your in-person consultation, we’ll walk you through how the Escape Room works and give you some advance knowledge of the room and its flow. For this experience, the goal isn’t to put pressure on you to solve every puzzle—it’s to create an amazing proposal! Knowing what to expect ahead of time helps take some of that pressure off and allows you to focus on enjoying the moment with your partner. We’ll also go over exactly how the customized ending will work so you’ll know when your big moment is coming. When you reach the final part of the experience, it will be very clear when it’s time to get down on one knee and propose. We’ll make sure you feel prepared and confident about how everything will unfold before the big day.
How do I make payments? Once your proposal date is confirmed, we’ll send you an invoice by email for the full $350 Engagement Package, which must be paid within seven days of booking to secure your reservation. Any additional guests or add-ons can be discussed with us separately. If you’re trying to keep the proposal a surprise, we recommend providing an email address that only you have access to. The invoice will simply come from Crack The Code, so there won’t be anything overly revealing in your inbox. And if your partner happens to see it, you can always say you booked an Escape Room—we’ll leave the rest of the story up to you!
Can others join us? Absolutely! If you’d like friends or family to participate in the Escape Room with you, additional guests can be added for $25 per person. We generally recommend that just the couple complete the Escape Room together, as it tends to make the proposal feel a little more intimate and personal—but this is your proposal, and you know your partner best! We’re happy to accommodate whatever feels right for you. Friends and family are also welcome to join you in our lobby afterward at no additional cost to surprise your partner, celebrate, take photos, and enjoy the moment with you. Our lobby can accommodate up to 12 additional guests for the after-proposal celebration.
What Escape Room will we do? During your phone consultation, we’ll talk through the different room options and help you choose the best fit for your proposal. We do have one room at our Mokena location that we especially recommend for engagements. It’s one of our most highly rated experiences, and its ending gives us the greatest opportunity to customize the proposal and incorporate personal details from you. We don’t want to give away too much on our website—the surprise is part of the fun! That said, you are not required to choose our recommended room. If there’s another Escape Room you have your heart set on, just let us know. We’re happy to work with you to make your proposal feel special and personalized whichever room you choose.
Will my partner have any idea what’s going on? Absolutely not! Keeping the proposal a surprise is a huge priority for us. We’re very discreet, and we’ve successfully pulled off three surprise engagements so far without spoiling the big moment. When you arrive, all proposal décor will be completely hidden so everything looks like a normal Escape Room visit to your partner. Once you’re safely inside the Escape Room, our team will set up the decorated lobby for your reveal. We even have a curtain that allows us to keep everything concealed until you’re about to escape—so if your partner happens to step out to use the restroom during the game, the surprise will still be safely hidden. Nothing is revealed until it’s time for your big moment!
How do I go about setting up a proposal? Getting started is easy! Give us a call, send us an email, or fill out our “Get a Quote” form, and we’ll get in touch with you to start discussing your proposal. If you have a date in mind but aren’t quite ready to officially book, we can also place a soft hold on your preferred date and time while we work through the details together. We recommend reaching out at least 30 days before your proposal date whenever possible. This gives us plenty of time to plan your customized ending, meet with you, and make sure all of the special details are exactly how you envision them. Have less than 30 days?
